TCGplayer fees for a normal Level 1-4 seller come in two parts. Marketplace commission is 10.75% of the card price plus the shipping the buyer pays, with the card part capped at $75. Then there's a transaction fee of 2.5% of the order total, sales tax included, plus $0.30 per order. A $20 card with no shipping or tax costs you $2.95 in fees, and $17.05 lands in your account.
Use the TCGplayer fee calculator above with your own price, the shipping you charge and the buyer's sales tax. Switch the seller type to Pro or Direct if that's how you sell, and add what you paid for the card to see profit.
TCGplayer seller fees, line by line
| Fee | How it is charged (US) |
|---|---|
| Marketplace commission | 10.75% of the item price (maximum $75). Level 1-4 sellers. Capped at $75 per card. |
| Commission on shipping | 10.75% of the shipping the buyer pays. Level 1-4 sellers. No cap. |
| Marketplace commission | 9.25% of the item price (maximum $75). Pro sellers. Capped at $75 per card. |
| Commission on shipping | 9.25% of the shipping the buyer pays. Pro sellers. No cap. |
| Pro fee | 2.5% of the item price plus shipping. Pro sellers, on the card price and shipping. |
| Transaction fee | 2.5% of the full order total (item, shipping and tax). Seller type: Level 1-4 seller, Pro seller (not Direct); International order: No. |
| Transaction fee | 3.5% of the full order total (item, shipping and tax). International orders. |
| Transaction fee (fixed part) | $0.30 per order. Seller type: Level 1-4 seller, Pro seller (not Direct). |
| Direct commission | 8.95% of the item price (maximum $75). Direct cards of $2.50 and up. Capped at $75 per card. |
| Direct transaction fee | 2.5% of the item price. Direct cards of $2.50 and up, card price only, no fixed fee. |
| Direct Fee | $1.12 per card on Direct cards of $2.50 and up |
| Direct Fee | 50% of the item price. Direct cards under $2.50, instead of commission and transaction fees. |
The two percentages use different bases, and that trips up a lot of hand calculations:
- Commission is charged on the card price and on buyer-paid shipping. The $75 cap only applies to the card part, so shipping is never capped.
- Transaction fee is charged on everything the buyer pays: cards, shipping and sales tax. The $0.30 is once per order, however many cards are in it.
How much does TCGplayer take?
On a single card with no shipping, the TCGplayer selling fees work out like this:
| Sale price | Total fees | Fees as % of price | You receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| $1.00 | $0.43 | 43.2% | $0.57 |
| $5.00 | $0.96 | 19.2% | $4.04 |
| $10.00 | $1.63 | 16.2% | $8.38 |
| $20.00 | $2.95 | 14.8% | $17.05 |
| $50.00 | $6.93 | 13.8% | $43.08 |
| $100.00 | $13.55 | 13.6% | $86.45 |
Default settings, no sales tax, no optional fees.
The fixed $0.30 is what decides the share on cheap cards. On a $1 single it takes most of the $0.43 in fees, so you keep $0.57. On a $100 card the same $0.30 hardly matters: fees are $13.55 and you keep $86.45. That's why bulk singles usually sell better in bigger orders, where one $0.30 covers many cards.
So what percentage does TCGplayer take? About 13.5% to 15% on cards from $20 to $100, more on cheap singles and less on expensive ones once the $75 cap kicks in.
A real order with shipping and tax
Say a buyer pays $20 for a card, $1.49 shipping and 7% sales tax. Commission is $2.15 on the card and $0.16 on the shipping. The transaction fee is 2.5% of the full order plus $0.30, which comes to $0.87. Your fees total $3.19, and TCGplayer pays you $18.31, which includes the $1.49 you'll spend on postage.
This is the same method as TCGplayer's own Fee Calculation Examples, which split commission into the card part and the shipping part before adding the transaction fee.
The $75 commission cap
Since 10 February 2026, commission is capped at $75 per card sold. Before that the cap was $50 and the rate was 10.25%. A Level 1-4 seller hits the cap on a card priced at about $698.
On a $1,000 card, commission stops at $75.00. The transaction fee isn't capped, so it's $25.00 plus $0.30, and you keep $899.70. The cap is per card, not per order, so two $1,000 cards pay $75 each.
Pro sellers
Pro sellers pay a lower commission of 9.25%, plus a separate Pro fee of 2.5% on the card price and shipping. The transaction fee is the same 2.5% plus $0.30. On a $20 card that's $3.15 in fees against $2.95 for a Level 1-4 seller, so Pro costs a little more per sale.
TCGplayer's cap FAQ says commission and the Pro fee are capped at $75 per card between them. This calculator caps the commission line at $75 and leaves the Pro fee uncapped, which only makes a difference on cards above roughly $640. If you sell cards that expensive on a Pro account, check the fee shown on your order.
TCGplayer Direct fees
With Direct, you send cards to TCGplayer and they handle shipping to the buyer. Since 18 June 2026 the Direct Fee is charged per card, and the $0.30 fixed transaction fee no longer applies to Direct orders:
- Cards from $2.50 up: 8.95% commission, a 2.5% transaction fee on the card price, and a Direct Fee of $1.12 per card. A $10 card costs $2.27 and leaves you $7.74.
- Cards under $2.50: a Direct Fee of 50% of the price, and no commission or transaction fee. A $2 card leaves you $1.00.
Pick "TCGplayer Direct" in the calculator and leave shipping at zero, since Direct shipping isn't charged to you this way. Direct listings also have a $0.40 minimum price. Pro accounts using Direct pay an extra 2.5% Pro fee on the card price, which the calculator doesn't add.
International orders
For international orders the transaction fee rises to 3.5% plus $0.30. On a $100 card that makes the total fee $14.55. Sellers outside the US who are paid through PayPal also pay 2% on each payout, up to $20. TCGplayer doesn't say whether "international" means the buyer's country or the seller's, so treat the setting as an estimate.
Ways to keep more of each sale
- Bundle cheap singles. One order of ten $1 cards pays one $0.30, not ten.
- Price with tax in mind. The transaction fee includes sales tax, so the same card costs you a few cents more in high-tax states.
- Compare Direct carefully on low-value cards. Under $2.50, Direct takes half the price. Above that, the $1.12 per card is a bigger share of a $3 card than a $30 one.
- Check other places for big cards. eBay's trading card rate is 13.25% of the total plus a per-order fee, and Whatnot charges commission on the card only. The eBay trading card fee calculator and the Whatnot fee calculator show those payouts.
