eBay Fee Calculator Canada: What You Keep on eBay.ca

eBay.ca charges a percentage of the whole sale, sales tax included, plus a per-order fee. Enter your price to see your fees and payout in Canadian dollars.

eBay fees in Canada for most categories are 13.6% of the total amount of the sale plus C$0.40 per order, or C$0.30 when the order is C$10 or less. "Total" means the item price, the shipping you charge and the GST, HST or PST the buyer pays. A C$50 item with free shipping and no tax costs C$7.20 in fees, so you keep C$42.80.

Put your own numbers into the eBay fee calculator for Canada above. Add the buyer's sales tax rate for the province you ship to, pick a category if yours isn't standard, and add what you paid for the item to use it as an eBay profit calculator.

All fees on eBay.ca are charged in Canadian dollars. There's no separate payment processing fee: the final value fee and the per-order fee cover it. You get 250 free listings a month, and after that each listing costs C$0.30, charged again when it relists.

The fee includes sales tax

This is the part that surprises sellers. Since eBay started collecting GST, HST and PST from Canadian buyers, that tax counts as part of the sale for the fee, even though eBay sends it to the government and you never receive it.

eBay.ca's own example: an item sells for C$400 with free shipping to a buyer in Ontario, where 13% HST makes the total C$452. The final value fee is 13.6% of C$452 plus C$0.40, which is C$61.87, and you keep C$338.13 before the listing fee and the label. On the same item with no tax, the fee would be lower, so always enter the buyer's tax rate for a true number.

eBay fees in Canada by category

  • Most categories: 13.6% up to C$7,500 per item, then 2.35% above that. This includes watches and jewellery, which don't have the special tiers they get on eBay.com.
  • Books, movies and music: 15.3%, the highest rate. Vinyl records use the standard rate.
  • Trading cards, comics and coins: 13.25%. A C$50 card costs C$7.03 in fees. Bullion has its own rates.
  • Guitars and basses: 6.7%, and listing them is free.
  • Athletic shoes: 8% at C$150 or more with no per-order fee, and 13.6% plus the per-order fee below C$150. A C$160 pair costs C$12.80.

Most of these rates went up by 0.35 points on 3 March 2025. Trading cards stayed at 13.25%. An eBay Store changes the rates (most categories drop to 12.7% with a lower C$2,500 threshold), so if you pay for a store, your fees can come in under this calculator's.

GST and HST on your eBay fees

If you live in Canada, eBay adds GST to its fees, plus HST, QST or PST depending on your province. The tax shows on your invoice, separate from the fee. The calculator leaves it out by default. Pick your province's rate under "Sales tax eBay adds to your fees" to include it. At 13% HST, a C$100 sale with C$14.00 in fees costs another C$1.82 in tax. GST-registered businesses can usually claim that tax back as an input tax credit.

Selling to buyers in the US and abroad

If you don't use eBay International Shipping, eBay charges an international fee on the total sale: 0.4% when the buyer is in the US and 1% for every other country. On a C$100 sale to the US, that's C$0.40 more, for C$14.40 in fees. With eBay International Shipping there's no international fee, and the fee on shipping is based on your cost to ship to the Canadian hub.

Getting paid in US dollars, or selling on another eBay site, means a currency conversion charge. For Canadian sellers it's 3.25%, up from 3% on 14 October 2026.

Promoted Listings, Top Rated Plus and surcharges

  • Promoted Listings: you pick an ad rate from 2% to 100%, charged on the total sale if the buyer clicked your ad and bought within 30 days. Add the rate in the calculator to see the real cost.
  • Top Rated Plus: Top Rated sellers get 10% off final value fees on qualifying listings on eBay.ca, eBay.com and Motors.
  • Below Standard: an extra 6% on final value fees for the month after a Below Standard rating, rising to 7% after four months in a row.

Common questions

How much does eBay take from a sale in Canada?

In most categories, 13.6% of the total plus C$0.40. On a C$100 sale with no tax or shipping, that's C$14.00, and you keep C$86.00.

Does eBay Canada charge fees on shipping and tax?

Yes, both. A C$100 item with C$10 shipping and 13% HST has a total of C$124.30, so the fee is C$17.30 rather than C$14.00.

Are eBay.ca fees the same as eBay.com?

The main rate is the same 13.6%, but Canada has no special watch tiers, a different international fee and fees in Canadian dollars. US sellers should use the eBay fee calculator for the US.

Is selling on eBay free in Canada?

Listing is free for your first 250 items a month. Unlike the UK and Australia, there's no free selling for private sellers: every sale pays the final value fee. The UK and Australia calculators cover those countries.
