Depop takes no selling fee from US sellers. The Depop fees that come out of your payout are payment processing of 3.3% of the order plus $0.45, and a 12% boosting fee if the sale came through a boosted listing.
Type your sale price and the shipping you charge into the Depop fee calculator above and it shows the fees and your payout. Switch on the boosting option to see the difference a boosted sale makes.
How much does Depop take from a sale?
For a normal, unboosted sale the only deduction is processing. Depop removed its 10% selling fee for US sellers on 18 July 2024 and moved the platform's cut onto buyers instead, through the Marketplace fee covered further down.
Processing is charged on the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays, plus any sales tax on the order. It is charged once per transaction, so a bundle of three items pays one $0.45 fixed part, not three.
| Fee | How it is charged (US) |
|---|---|
| Selling fee | None. Depop removed the 10% selling fee in this country. |
| Payment processing | 3.3% of the full order total (item, shipping and tax) |
| Payment processing (fixed part) | $0.45 per order |
| Boosting fee | your chosen rate, charged on the item price. Only if the item sold through a boosted listing. On the item price. |
| Boosting fee | your chosen rate, charged on the item price plus shipping. Only if the item sold through a boosted listing. On item price plus shipping when you arrange postage. |
| Marketplace fee (up to) (buyer pays) | 5% of the item price |
| Marketplace fee fixed part (up to) (buyer pays) | $1 per order |
Here is what that looks like at common prices with no shipping or tax added:
| Sale price | Total fees | Fees as % of price | You receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $0.78 | 7.8% | $9.22 |
| $25.00 | $1.28 | 5.1% | $23.73 |
| $50.00 | $2.10 | 4.2% | $47.90 |
| $100.00 | $3.75 | 3.8% | $96.25 |
| $250.00 | $8.70 | 3.5% | $241.30 |
Default settings, no sales tax, no optional fees.
The fixed $0.45 is what hurts on cheap items. On a $10 sale it is more than half the fee, and the total comes to 7.8% of the price. By $250 the total is down to about 3.5%.
Worked example: a $20 top with $5 shipping
- Order value for processing: $20 + $5 = $25 (no sales tax in this example).
- Processing: 3.3% of $25 is $0.825, plus $0.45, so about $1.28.
- Depop pays you $25 minus $1.28, which is $23.72.
- If you bought your own postage for $5, you net about $18.72 on the item.
Had that listing been boosted and you shipped it yourself, the boosting fee would be 12% of $25, another $3.00, leaving $20.72 before postage.
The Depop boosting fee
Boosting is optional. You pay nothing up front. Depop only charges the fee when a buyer saw or interacted with your boosted listing and then bought the item within 28 days.
The rate for US listings boosted from 23 March 2026 is 12%. Before that it was 8%, and some older Depop help articles still show the old number. The fee is worked out on the item price excluding tax. Shipping is only added to the boosting base when you arrange your own shipping; Depop doesn't charge boosting on orders sent with a Depop Shipping label. If the sale is refunded, so is the boosting fee.
What is the Depop Marketplace fee?
The Marketplace fee is the buyer's fee, not yours. Depop describes it as up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1, and it never comes out of your payout. Tax and shipping are left out of that 5%.
Because Depop says "up to", the 5% and $1 are ceilings. The exact amount appears at checkout. On a bundle, the percentage runs on the combined item prices and the fixed part is charged once. A refunded order gets its Marketplace fee back.
Why care if you don't pay it? Because buyers see it. A $40 jacket can cost the buyer up to $43 before shipping, and price-sensitive shoppers notice. Some sellers trim their price slightly to stay under a round number once the fee is added.
Using it as a Depop profit calculator
The payout figure is not profit. To get profit, take what Depop pays you and subtract:
- what you paid for the item,
- your postage if you ship it yourself (the buyer's shipping is already in the payout),
- packaging, and any boosting fee you incurred.
Say you thrifted a pair of jeans for $8 and sold them for $40 plus $6 shipping. Processing is 3.3% of $46 plus $0.45, about $1.97, so Depop pays you $44.03. Take off $6 of postage and the $8 you paid and you are left with about $30 profit.
Put the $8 item cost and $6 postage into the Depop fees calculator above and it does this sum for you, with margin and ROI shown next to the profit. It also works backwards: choose "What price to list at", type the payout or profit you want, and this Depop calculator gives you the price to list at.
How to keep more of each sale
- Bundle. One transaction means one $0.45 fixed part, so a three-item bundle saves you $0.90 compared with three separate sales.
- Price shipping honestly. Processing applies to shipping too, but at 3.3% that is pennies. The bigger loss is charging less than your label costs.
- Boost selectively. Boost items that are slow to move, not the ones that sell in a day on their own.
- Use Depop Shipping on boosted items if the label price suits you, since boosting then skips the shipping part.
Common questions
Does Depop still charge 10%?
Not in the US. The 10% selling fee ended on 18 July 2024. Depop still lists a 10% selling fee for countries outside the US, UK and Australia, so you will see the number quoted online.
Is the Depop fee charged on shipping?
Payment processing is, along with any sales tax on the order. The boosting fee includes shipping only when you arrange the shipping yourself.
How much does Depop take from a $50 sale?
With no shipping, tax or boosting, processing is 3.3% of $50 plus $0.45, which is $2.10. You receive $47.90.
Do I pay the Marketplace fee as a seller?
No. The buyer pays it on top of your price. It doesn't reduce your payout.
Selling in Britain or Australia? The rates differ; see the Depop UK calculator and the Depop Australia calculator. For other US apps, compare with the Poshmark and Mercari calculators.
