Reverb fees on a typical sale come to about 8.3% of the order. Sell a guitar for $500 with $30 shipping and Reverb takes a $26.50 selling fee and $17.40 in payment processing, so $43.90 in all, and you receive $486.10 before you pay for the shipping.
Put your own sale into the Reverb fee calculator above. Add the sales tax the buyer pays, because processing is charged on it, and tick Preferred Seller, bumps or a cross-border sale if they apply. Enter what you paid for the gear and your shipping cost to see profit, margin and ROI, or use "What price to list at" to work back from the amount you want.

| Payment processing | 3.19% of the full order total including tax (2.99% for Preferred Sellers) |

How much does Reverb take?
Reverb takes about 8.7% of a $100 sale with free shipping: a $5.00 selling fee, $3.19 processing and $0.49, which leaves you $91.32. Two things make the percentage move:
- Shipping. Both fees are charged on the shipping the buyer pays, not just the item. The shipping money comes to you to buy the label.
- Sales tax. The selling fee leaves tax out, but processing includes it, so a buyer in a high-tax state costs you slightly more.
Payouts at common prices, with free shipping and no tax:
| Sale price | Total fees | Fees as % of price | You receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $1.31 | 13.1% | $8.69 |
| $100.00 | $8.68 | 8.7% | $91.32 |
| $500.00 | $41.44 | 8.3% | $458.56 |
| $1,000.00 | $82.39 | 8.2% | $917.61 |
| $5,000.00 | $409.99 | 8.2% | $4,590.01 |
| $15,000.00 | $978.99 | 6.5% | $14,021.01 |

The $500 cap on Reverb's selling fee
The 5% selling fee stops at $500, which it reaches at $10,000. Reverb's own example is a $15,000 guitar: instead of $750, the selling fee is $500. Processing isn't capped, so that sale still pays $478.99 in processing and $978.99 in total. For high-end instruments, the cap makes Reverb noticeably cheaper than marketplaces that charge a straight percentage.
The $0.50 minimum on cheap items
At the other end, the selling fee is never less than $0.50, and processing adds a fixed $0.49. A $10 pedal patch cable costs $1.31 in fees, or 13% of the price, and pays you $8.69. Bundle small accessories where you can.
Reverb payment processing fee
US sellers pay 3.19% of the order total, including shipping and tax, plus $0.49 per transaction, whatever payment method the buyer uses. Preferred Sellers pay 2.99% instead, so a $1,000 sale costs them $29.90 in processing rather than $31.90. Orders that cross a border can add 1% of the total, though sales within the European Economic Area count as domestic. If your listing currency differs from your payout currency, Reverb also takes 2.5% of the payout to convert it.
Bumps
A bump is a promoted listing where you bid a percentage of the sale price. You pay nothing unless the item sells through the bump. If it does, the bump fee is added on top: a 5% bump on a $1,000 amp adds $50.00, taking total fees from $82.39 to $132.39. Put your bump rate in the calculator to see the payout either way.
Reverb or eBay for gear?
Reverb is built for instruments and audio gear, so buyers come looking for exactly what you sell. On fees it's close to eBay for most gear, and eBay charges guitars and basses a lower 6.7% rate, so a $1,000 guitar costs $67.40 on eBay against $82.39 on Reverb. For pedals, amps and other gear in eBay's standard categories, Reverb usually costs less. The eBay fee calculator has the category options.
