Depop vs Vinted: Fees, Payouts and Which Is Better in the UK

Neither app charges a selling fee in the UK. Vinted takes nothing from you at all, and Depop takes 2.9% plus 30p for payment processing. Here's what that means for each sale.

For a UK seller, Vinted pays you a little more on every sale. Sell a £20 top and Vinted sends you the full £20.00. Depop takes 88p in payment processing and sends you £19.12. Neither charges a selling fee, so the Depop vs Vinted fee gap is only the processing charge, unless you pay Depop to boost a listing.

Type your price into the calculator above. Add what you paid for the item, and your postage cost if you cover it, to see profit on both apps.

Depop vs Vinted fees, side by side

  • Vinted: sellers pay nothing on a standard sale. The buyer pays the Vinted fee (called the Buyer Protection fee until October 2026), which Vinted says is usually 3% to 8% of the price plus 30p to 80p, and postage.
  • Depop: no selling fee since 2024. Each order costs you 2.9% plus 30p in payment processing, charged on the item, the postage the buyer pays and any tax. If the sale came through a boosted listing, add 12% of the item price.
  • What buyers pay: on Depop, a Marketplace fee of up to 5% of the item price plus up to £1. On Vinted, the Vinted fee above. Both sit on top of your price and don't come out of your payout.

What each app pays you at common prices, with no postage and no boost:

The difference is small on cheap items and grows slowly with the price. On a £100 jacket, Depop's processing is £3.20. On a £5 item the 30p fixed part does most of the damage.

Is Depop or Vinted better?

On fees, Vinted wins, because sellers pay nothing. But the few pence of processing rarely decide where something sells best. What you sell matters more.

Vinted suits everyday clothing and volume. It has a huge UK audience shopping for value: high-street brands, kids' clothes, basics and bundles. Listing is quick and buyers expect fair prices. If you're clearing a wardrobe, Vinted usually moves things faster.

Depop suits vintage, streetwear and statement pieces. Its buyers skew younger and come looking for style, so a well-photographed vintage jacket can sell for noticeably more there. If a piece would fetch £35 on Depop and £28 on Vinted, Depop's processing fee is a small price for the extra £7.

Plenty of UK sellers skip the Vinted vs Depop decision altogether: they list on both and delist the other copy when one sells.

What the buyer pays on each app

Buyers see a different total for the same price. With £3.50 postage, a £20 item costs a Depop buyer up to £25.50 including the Marketplace fee. On Vinted the same item costs between £24.40 and £25.90, depending on where the Vinted fee lands in its range. If you're pricing to compete, compare these totals, not just your list price.

Boosting on Depop and bumps on Vinted

Depop's boosting fee is the one cost that changes the picture. It's 12% of the item price, charged only when a boosted listing sells, so a boosted £20 sale costs £3.28 in total and pays you £16.72. Vinted's visibility extras (Bumps and the wardrobe Showcase) are paid up front whether or not the item sells, and Vinted doesn't publish set prices for them.

Depop or Vinted: how to choose for one item

  1. Search sold items on both apps for the same brand and type, and note the real selling prices.
  2. Put each price through the calculator with your item cost and any postage you'd pay.
  3. Pick the higher profit. If it's close, go with the app where similar items sold faster.
