OfferUp fees are simple now: on a normal sale there's no OfferUp selling fee at all. OfferUp's help center says it "doesn't charge fees or take a commission from your in-person transactions." Meet the buyer, get paid, and the whole price is yours.
What changed is shipping. OfferUp stopped letting sellers add shipping to new listings on September 23, 2025, and removed it from the remaining listings on October 21, 2025. It says it has no current plans to bring nationwide shipping back. So the seller fee for shipped orders that many fee calculators still show no longer applies to anyone.
Does OfferUp charge fees?
Not on sales. Local, in-person sales cost the seller nothing. OfferUp makes its money from optional extras instead:
- Promote and Promote Plus: paid subscriptions that show your listings to more people.
- Extra listings: each category has a free monthly listing allowance, and you can pay to post more.
- Premium: a monthly plan that removes ads from the app.
- Job and service listings: these are paid.
OfferUp doesn't publish set prices for these. The app shows the price before you pay, so nothing is charged by surprise.
OfferUp free listing limits
You can post a set number of listings free each month, by category:
- Cars and trucks: 1
- Motorcycles: 1
- Appliances: 15
- Cell phones: 15
- Furniture, jewelry and tools: 25 each
- Everything else: 200 in total
Unused listings don't roll over to the next month. Most casual sellers never hit these limits, so for them OfferUp is entirely free.
What about the OfferUp shipping fee?
There isn't one any more, because there's no shipping. If you see a calculator or guide quoting a percentage fee for shipped OfferUp sales, it was written before October 2025. To ship an item to a buyer in another state, you'll need a different marketplace, and those do charge fees.
Where to sell items you need to ship
The calculator above compares an OfferUp local sale with shipping the same item elsewhere. On a $50 item, OfferUp in person leaves you the full $50.00. Shipped through Mercari you'd receive $45.00, through Facebook Marketplace $45.00 and through eBay $42.80, before the cost of the label if you pay for shipping.
- Facebook Marketplace is the closest match to OfferUp: local sales are free there too, and you can ship when you need to.
- Mercari takes 10% and has a big audience for everyday items.
- eBay reaches the most buyers, which helps with collectibles, parts and anything rare. The eBay vs Mercari comparison shows how the two differ.
For bulky things like furniture and appliances, local selling usually wins anyway, and OfferUp's $0 fee makes it hard to beat.
Common questions
Does OfferUp take a percentage of sales?
No. OfferUp doesn't charge fees or take a commission on in-person sales. The percentage fee it used to charge on shipped sales ended along with shipping in 2025.
Can you still ship items on OfferUp?
No. OfferUp ended nationwide shipping in 2025: new shipped listings stopped on September 23 and shipping was removed from the remaining listings on October 21. It now supports local, in-person sales only.
Is there an OfferUp fee calculator?
For a local sale there's nothing to calculate: you keep the full price. If you're deciding where to ship an item instead, the calculator above compares Facebook Marketplace, Mercari and eBay with an OfferUp local sale.
Does OfferUp charge buyers a fee?
OfferUp's help pages don't list any buyer fee for local, in-person sales. Buyers and sellers agree the price and settle it when they meet.
