On fees, Depop wins by a long way. Sell a $50 jacket with no shipping added and Depop keeps $2.10 for payment processing, so $47.90 reaches you. Poshmark keeps $10.00 and sends you $40.00. That's the Depop vs Poshmark fee story in one sale: a small processing charge against a 20% commission.
Type your own price into the calculator above. Add what you paid for the item and any postage you cover, and it shows profit on both apps, plus what the buyer pays at checkout.
Depop vs Poshmark fees, side by side
- Depop: no selling fee for US sellers since 18 July 2024. Each order costs 3.3% plus $0.45 in payment processing, charged on the item, the shipping the buyer pays and any sales tax. If the sale came through a boosted listing, add 12%.
- Poshmark: a flat $2.95 on sales under $15, and 20% of the sale price from $15 up. No listing fee and no separate processing fee. Shipping and sales tax aren't part of the fee.
- What buyers pay: Depop buyers pay a Marketplace fee of up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1. Poshmark buyers pay shipping and sales tax, but no separate buyer fee.
A lot of articles comparing the two still say Depop takes 10%. That was true before July 2024. If a guide quotes a 10% Depop selling fee for the US, it's out of date.
Here's what each one pays you at common prices, with no shipping, tax or boosting:
| Sale price | Depop fee | Depop pays you | Poshmark fee | Poshmark pays you |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $0.78 | $9.22 | $2.95 | $7.05 |
| $14.00 | $0.91 | $13.09 | $2.95 | $11.05 |
| $15.00 | $0.95 | $14.06 | $3.00 | $12.00 |
| $25.00 | $1.28 | $23.73 | $5.00 | $20.00 |
| $50.00 | $2.10 | $47.90 | $10.00 | $40.00 |
| $100.00 | $3.75 | $96.25 | $20.00 | $80.00 |
| $250.00 | $8.70 | $241.30 | $50.00 | $200.00 |
Standard settings, free shipping to the buyer, no sales tax.
Cheap items show the gap most clearly. On a $10 top, Depop takes $0.78 and you keep $9.22. Poshmark's flat $2.95 leaves you $7.05. At $100 it's $96.25 on Depop against $80.00 on Poshmark.
Is Depop better than Poshmark?
For fees, yes, on every price. But the fee isn't the only thing that decides what you make. The price you can actually get, and how fast it sells, matter just as much.
Depop suits younger, trend-led fashion. Vintage, streetwear, Y2K, one-off pieces and anything with a strong look. Buyers browse by style more than by brand and size, and good photos do a lot of the selling.
Poshmark suits brand-name clothing, shoes and bags. Its buyers search for specific labels and sizes, and the sharing, offers and bundles system rewards sellers who list a lot. If a piece sells on Poshmark for $70 when it would only go for $50 on Depop, the higher fee can still leave you ahead.
So is Depop or Poshmark better for selling? If your items fit both, Depop keeps more of each sale. If an item clearly sells for more on Poshmark, run both prices through the calculator and let the payout decide.
How boosting changes the numbers
Boosting is Depop's one big fee, and it's optional. If a $50 sale came through a boosted listing, Depop adds 12% of the item price, so fees rise to $8.10 and you keep $41.90. That's still a little more than Poshmark pays on the same sale, but the gap nearly closes.
Depop only charges boosting when a buyer saw or tapped your boosted listing and bought within 28 days. If you boost everything, expect many of your sales to carry the 12%.
Shipping on Depop and Poshmark
Poshmark keeps shipping simple. The buyer pays for a prepaid label, and Poshmark's fee is never charged on it. You only pay extra if the parcel is over 5 lb or you offer a shipping discount.
On Depop, the shipping the buyer pays is part of what processing is charged on. A $50 item with $8 buyer-paid shipping costs $2.36 in processing, and Depop pays you $55.64. That includes the $8, which goes on the label. If you offer free shipping, enter your label cost as "Your postage cost" in the calculator to see real profit on both.
Selling on Poshmark vs Depop: a quick way to decide
- Check sold listings on both apps for the same or similar item, not asking prices.
- Put each likely price through the calculator above, with your item cost and any postage you'd pay.
- Pick the higher profit. If it's close, choose the app where that kind of item sells faster.
Plenty of sellers list on both and take whichever sale comes first. If you do, price with each app's fee in mind. The same $50 tag gets you $47.90 on Depop and $40.00 on Poshmark.
