How much does Poshmark take?
On a US sale under $15, Poshmark keeps a flat $2.95. From $15 up, it keeps 20% of the sale price, so you get 80%. That's the whole Poshmark selling fee. There's no listing fee, no separate payment processing charge and no monthly plan.
This Poshmark calculator does the math for either country. Pick US or Canada, type the price your buyer agreed to, and it shows the fee and your earnings. Add what you paid for the item and it works as a Poshmark profit calculator too, with margin and ROI. If you have a payout in mind, "What price to list at" tells you what to ask.
The full rule set for US sales:
| Fee | How it is charged (US) |
|---|---|
| Poshmark fee | $2.95 per order. Sales under $15. |
| Poshmark fee | 20% of the item price. Sales of $15 and up. |
Poshmark selling fees at common prices
Here's what the fee comes to at a few typical closet prices in the US:
| Sale price | Total fees | Fees as % of price | You receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $2.95 | 29.5% | $7.05 |
| $25.00 | $5.00 | 20.0% | $20.00 |
| $50.00 | $10.00 | 20.0% | $40.00 |
| $100.00 | $20.00 | 20.0% | $80.00 |
| $250.00 | $50.00 | 20.0% | $200.00 |
Default settings, no sales tax, no optional fees.
Notice how the percentage behaves. Above $15 it never moves: a $25 top and a $250 handbag both lose exactly a fifth. Below $15 the flat fee does the damage. On a $10 sale, $2.95 is 29.5% of the price. On a $5 sale it's 59%, and you walk away with $2.05.
The $15 line and why it matters for pricing
Poshmark's Fee Policy says the $2.95 applies to sales "under $15" and 20% applies at "$15 and above." So a sale at exactly $15.00 is charged 20%, which works out to $3.00.
That gives you a simple comparison:
- Sell at $14 and you keep $11.05.
- Sell at $15 and you keep $12.00.
One extra dollar on the price puts 95 cents more in your pocket. If an item could reasonably go for $15, don't accept $13 or $14 just to close the deal faster unless you really want it gone.
The bigger lesson is that cheap items are expensive to sell here. A lot of sellers bundle low-priced pieces or move them in lots, because the fee is charged per order, not per item. Three $8 shirts sold separately cost 3 × $2.95 = $8.85 in fees. The same three shirts sold as one $24 bundle cost 20% of $24, which is $4.80.
What the 20% is charged on
The fee comes off the final order price. Poshmark defines that as the item price after any discount you offer. A few things are left out of it:
- Shipping. The buyer pays for shipping, and that money isn't part of the fee base.
- Sales tax. Tax collected from the buyer isn't counted either.
- Your own discounts. If you accept an offer of $40 on a $55 listing, the fee is 20% of $40, so $8.00.
Two costs can still come out of your earnings even though they aren't commission. If you offer the buyer a shipping discount, the amount you cover is taken from your payout. And Poshmark's prepaid label covers packages up to 5 lb; if your box is heavier, you pay for the label upgrade (the policy allows upgrades up to 15 lb, and the price is shown in the app rather than in the policy).
Poshmark fees in Canada
Poshmark Canada uses the same shape with different numbers. Sales under C$20 pay a flat C$3.95. Sales of C$20 or more pay 20%. On top of that, Poshmark deducts GST or HST on its fee, at the rate for the province you live in.
That tax is charged on the fee, not on your sale. So an Ontario seller who sells a C$50 jacket pays C$10.00 in commission plus 13% HST on that C$10.00, which is C$1.30. Total deduction C$11.30, payout C$38.70. An Alberta seller with a C$15 sale pays C$3.95 plus 5% GST (C$0.20), so C$4.15 in total, leaving C$10.85.
The table below uses Ontario's 13% HST. Choose Canada and your province in the Poshmark fee calculator above to see your own numbers.
| Sale price | Total fees | Fees as % of price | You receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| C$10.00 | C$4.46 | 44.6% | C$5.54 |
| C$25.00 | C$5.65 | 22.6% | C$19.35 |
| C$50.00 | C$11.30 | 22.6% | C$38.70 |
| C$100.00 | C$22.60 | 22.6% | C$77.40 |
| C$250.00 | C$56.50 | 22.6% | C$193.50 |
Default settings, no sales tax, no optional fees.
Poshmark's policy only says the rate depends on your province. The province rates in the calculator come from the Canada Revenue Agency. Poshmark doesn't say whether Quebec sellers are also charged QST on the fee, so the calculator uses 5% GST for Quebec. The C$20 line works like the US $15 line: a sale at exactly C$20 is charged 20%.
Does Poshmark charge buyers?
Buyers pay for shipping. The official policy pages don't print the shipping amount, so it isn't in the calculator. Buyers also pay sales tax where it applies.
In October 2024 Poshmark briefly tested a new setup with a Buyer Protection Fee and a lower seller rate of 5.99% plus a fixed fee. It reversed that test on October 24, 2024, removed the buyer fee and went back to $2.95 and 20%. Fee Policy version 1.7, effective November 25, 2024, is still the current one.
Ways to keep more of each Poshmark sale
- Price around the thresholds. Avoid landing at $13 or $14 in the US, or C$17 to C$19 in Canada, when the next round number is realistic.
- Bundle cheap items. One fee per order beats one flat fee per $8 item.
- Be careful with shipping discounts. They feel small but come straight out of your earnings.
- Watch the 5 lb limit. Heavy boots and coats can push you into a paid label upgrade. Pack light where you can.
- Build the fee into your offers. Before accepting a low offer, check what 80% of it leaves you after your original cost.
Common questions
Is it free to list on Poshmark?
Yes. Listing costs nothing. You only pay when something sells.
Does Poshmark take a fee from shipping?
No. The 20% (or flat fee) is calculated on the item price after your discounts. Shipping and sales tax are not part of it.
What does Poshmark take from a $20 sale?
20% of $20, which is $4.00. You keep $16.00.
Is the Poshmark fee calculator different for Canada?
Yes. Canada uses C$3.95 under C$20 and 20% above, plus GST/HST on the fee based on your province. Choose Canada in the calculator and pick your province.
Can I compare Poshmark with other apps?
The fee comparison on the home page runs the same price through every platform. For a closer look at the main alternatives, see the Mercari and Depop calculators, or put the two biggest side by side in Poshmark vs Mercari.
